Objective

Our advocacy aims to raise public awareness about the environmental impact of artificial intelligence and modern search technologies. While AI-powered features offer convenience, they also rely on energy-intensive data centers that contribute to excessive carbon emissions and significant water consumption. Major search engines such as Google have integrated AI into their core services, often making these systems unavoidable for everyday users. As a result, millions of searches performed daily indirectly contribute to environmental degradation.In response, this advocacy seeks to educate individuals about these hidden environmental costs and empower them to make more sustainable digital choices. We promote eco-friendly alternatives such as Ecosia and OceanHero, which allow users to continue searching the web while actively contributing to environmental restoration. These platforms use search-generated revenue to fund tree-planting initiatives and ocean plastic cleanup efforts.Ultimately, our objective is to demonstrate that simple, everyday actions such as choosing a different search engine can reduce one’s digital environmental footprint and support global sustainability efforts. By informing and encouraging the public to switch to greener alternatives, we hope to transform ordinary online searches into meaningful actions that help protect and restore our planet.
